Endoscopic Transaxillary Thyroidectomy

Endoscopic Transaxillary Thyroidectomy

Often referred to has “Hidden Scar Thyroidectomy” or “Remote Access Thyroidectomy”, endoscopic transaxillary thyroidectomy is an approach in which a small incision is made in the axilla (under the arm) to remove the thyroid gland.  A small camera is inserted to permit lighting and a magnified view of the operative field.  This technique has been championed by the Mount Sinai Endocrine Surgery team.
